Welcome, I’m Linda M Carleton, an abuse survivor, rescued by God’s grace, and transformed by His love. In the summer of 2013, I received an invitation, a calling to follow the Lord Jesus Christ. It changed me forever!
Jesus quietly called saying, “come into the full light. Let the inner beauty and strength, shine through. Use the gifts given unto thee; show them off for the world to see. Do not hide away or be dismayed. I have created you in our image, after our likeness and blessed you. I love you just the way you are, flaws and all.”
Jesus was calling, come out of the darkness with fear and walk in the “full” light of Christ.
Jesus spoke of the light in John 8:12 saying;
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, “I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” John 8:12 KJV
The calling had a profound effect on my heart.
I was a part-time Christian, living in the “partial” light of Christ, and the chain of sin bound me to the darkness. My feet were walking in the darkness with sinful conditions, while my hands clung to the Word of God.
I lived in the darkness with fear, guilt, and shame.
Several years prior, I walked forward to confess my faith in Jesus Christ and became saved by the grace of God. I did have biblical knowledge of God’s word. I knew the truth; however, I didn’t “practice” the truth daily.
I didn’t continue in the Word of God!
I was not truly free from the bondage of sin. I was still a servant to sin.
Jesus spoke to the Jews who believed in him in John 8: 31-34 KJV about continuing in His word.
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him,
If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. They answered him, We be Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. John 8: 31-34 KJV
Walking in the Darkness
I continued walking in the darkness with sinful conditions.
I didn’t “trust” God enough to be “obedient” to His word daily, and the consequences were devastating. I continuously made unhealthy choices and decision in life and suffered unnecessarily.
I was living a lie and not walking in the light, as he is the light.
This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 1 John 1 5-8 KJV
I cried out to the Lord one day, and he answered. On that day, the Lord chased away my spiritual darkness and illuminated my new world with His holy light. The Lord showed me the truth; I was walking in darkness with fear for twenty years.
For You are my lamp, O LORD; And the LORD illumines my darkness. 2 Samuel 22:29 KJV
The Lord made known the reason for past afflictions and revealed my continuous disobedience to Him. He brought to mind the cause of enduring child abuse, child sexual abuse, and domestic violence and for losing my children.
We all wrestle against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. We wrestle against the prince of the power of the air, the devil or Satan.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:12 KJV
I wrestled with feelings of anger, bitterness, fear, hopelessness, and hatred after physical, mental and emotional abuse and guilt and shame for abandoning my children. I hid past afflictions, the emotional pain, and internal sufferings. I never felt loved and was bound to the darkness by the chain of sin.
Jesus spoke of turning from the darkness to the light and from the power of Satan to the power of God in Acts 26: 18 KJV.
To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. Acts 26: 18 KJ
The Lord opened my eyes, giving a clear understanding of the world darkness I wandered in for twenty-plus years, and humanity lives in today. He illuminated His truth regarding the psychological and physical state of humanity, and the wages of sin.
The World of Darkness with Sinful Conditions
Humanity lives in a world of darkness under the power of Satan and has a dysfunctional state of mind with imaginations of evil in their heart.
We have lived in a world of darkness under the power of Satan since the man (Adam) and the woman (Eve) distrusted and disobeyed God (the sin) in the Garden of Eden. And throughout the generations, humanity has committed horrendous acts of violence against one another.
We abuse and kill our children, wives, and husbands. We fulfill the lusts of the flesh with sexual pleasure and some to the perverse point of sexually abusing innocent children. We drown our spirit with alcohol and drugs, evoke quarrels amongst one another and many other atrocities.
Humanity will continuously rage war and murder one another until the Lord’s return. No matter what humanity tries to do to fix the situation, we can’t fix a situation that is not in our control to fix.
The lack of trust in the Lord keeps you bound to the world of darkness and power of Satan. In the darkness, humanity suffers unnecessary adversities in life.
Jesus Is the Answer
Humanity has and always will look within for the answers to solve our problems.
The sad fact, humanity has the answer to releasing themselves from the darkness and powers of Satan. However, humanity continuously rejects the answer and lacks the trust needed to place their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Jesus is the “ONLY” answer.
He is “THE ONLY WAY” to an abundant life.
Jesus is calling you to follow Him.
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Matthew 16: 24-26 KJV
The question is.
Will you place your trust in him?
If you do, He will give you victory over your sufferings and an abundance of life forever.
If you don’t, you will be bound to the darkness and powers of Satan. In the darkness, you will continue to suffer unnecessary pain and anguish in this life and for eternity. The abundant life will always be out of reach.
Trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ is the only way to overcome the powers of darkness so that you can have an abundance of life forever.
