Hiding in Fear from God at Christmas

My most cherished Christmas memory is the year we attended a Christmas play at the Methodist church in town. My son, Nathan, was about six years old when his grandparents and I took him to see a play about the birth of Jesus.

The best part of the Christmas play came when we heard the voice of God come over the loud speakers.

Nathan knew about God, since he attended the Salvation Army Church in Berkeley, California with us, and listened to bedtime stories from a Children’s Bible.

The moment he heard the voice of God come over the loud speaker he became extremely fearful. He quickly jumped down off the Church pew and hid underneath it from God.

The three of us began laughing amongst ourselves. Nathan’s grandfather bent over to ask him why he was hiding under there.

His response was priceless!

Nathan said,

“It’s God!”

“It’s God!”

He didn’t think it was very funny at all.

He was fearful that God was coming to get him. There was no way he was coming out from underneath that Church pew. That voice had put the fear of God in him.

We explained to him that it was a person pretending to be God over the loud speaker and encouraged him not to be afraid. We told him that God loved him and it was alright to come out.

It took a few minutes of convincing before he decided to come out from hiding. He sat back on the Church pew; however, he was restless for the rest of the play.

I find it astounding that a small child’s reaction to the presence of God is to hide in fear underneath a Church pew. I wonder how many people are hiding in fear of God this Christmas.

Are you living in fear of something or someone this Christmas?

The weight of living in fear can be an extremely heavy burden to carry and distressing to the spirit of man. Living in fear can also keep you down in an oppressed state of living.

A Christmas Gift

I encourage you; do not continue to live in fear of something or someone.

Know that God loves you!

God has an abundance of grace and everlasting love to share with you.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. John 3:16-17 KJV

God wants to rescue you from living in the darkness.

I encourage you; do not continue hiding in fear away from God.

Come out from underneath the pew today!

Come to the Lord Jesus Christ and accept him by faith. In the Lord Jesus Christ, you will find everything you need in life. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14-6 KJV

On Christmas day, you could open a million presents. You could receive expensive diamonds and gold, luxury cars and the best this world has to offer.

None of them can compare to the gift God has given to humanity.

The Lord Jesus Christ is the best gift anyone can receive any time of the year. However, you must claim this gift by placing your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

You must move away from fear and walk towards faith.

Thank you for reading the blog and for engaging with me on social media this past year. A blog is nothing but words on a web page without you. Your friendship and continuous support are greatly appreciated.

I pray the Lord will bless everyone with an abundance of life.

God Bless, Linda
