The Lord is Calling
Have you ever heard the Lord calling you? In the summer of 2013, I received a spiritual message. This message was an invitation, a calling from the Lord Jesus Christ.
“Come into the full light the Lord speaks to me. Let the inner beauty and strength shine through. Use the gifts given unto thee; show them off for the world to see. Do not hide away or be dismayed. I have created you in our image, after our likeness and blessed you. I love you just the way you are, flaws and all.”
In this message, the Lord was inviting, calling me (and you) to “come into the full light.” He was instructing me (and you) “do not hide away or be dismayed.”
He was reminding me (and you) “I have created you in our image, after our likeness, and blessed you. I love you just the way you are, flaws and all.”
This invitation was a calling for me (and you) to “come into the full light” of Christ. The key word in this message is “full”. The Lord has not called me (and you) to come into the “partial” light of Christ.
He has called us to walk in the light of Christ.
Jesus spoke of this the light in John 8:12 saying;
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, “I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” John 8:12 KJV
In 2013, this invitation, calling had a profound effect on me.
At that time, I was still sitting on the fence as a part-time Christian. I was living in the “partial” light of Christ, and the chains of sin still bounded me to the darkness.
My feet were walking in the world of darkness with sinful conditions, and my hands grabbed onto the word of God.
I was hiding in the darkness with fear, guilt, and shame.
I did walk forward to confess my faith in Christ several years earlier. I had been saved by the grace of God. I did have biblical knowledge of God’s word.
I knew the truth, but I didn’t “practice” the truth every day. I didn’t continue on in the word of God.
I was not truly free from the bondage of sin. I was still a servant to sin.
Jesus spoke to the Jews who believed on him in John 8: 31-34 KJV about continuing on in the word.
Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him,
If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. They answered him, We be Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. John 8: 31-34 KJV
Walking in Darkness
I continued to walk in the darkness with sinful conditions.
I didn’t “trust” God enough to “obey” his word every day, and the consequences were devastating. I continuously made unhealthy choices and decision in life and continued to suffer unnecessarily.
I was living a lie and not walking in the light, as he is the light.
This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 1 John 1 5-8 KJV
I cried out to the Lord one day and he answered me.
On that day, the Lord dispelled my darkness. The Lord illuminated the truth to me about the darkness I had been walking in for twenty years.
For You are my lamp, O LORD; And the LORD illumines my darkness. 2 Samuel 22:29 KJV
He made known the reason for past and current afflictions in life. He revealed the truth about my continuous disobedience to Him. He brought to mind the reasons for enduring child abuse, child sexual abuse, and domestic violence and for losing my children.
The Rulers of the Darkness of this World
We all wrestle against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. We wrestle against the prince of the power of the air, the devil or Satan.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:12 KJV
I had been living in the darkness with fear for twenty years.
I wrestled with feelings of guilt and shame. I hid the pain, afflictions, and suffering from everyone, including myself. I felt unloved and was bound to the darkness by the chains of sin.
Jesus spoke of turning from the darkness to the light and from the power of Satan to the power of God in Acts 26: 18 KJV.
To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. Acts 26: 18 KJ
The Lord gave me a clear understanding of the darkness that I was walking/living in for over twenty years, and that humanity lives in today.
The Word of Darkness
Humanity lives in a world of darkness under the power of Satan. Living in darkness, humanity has a dysfunctional state of mind with imaginations of evil in their heart.
Humanity has lived in the world of darkness under the power of Satan since Adam and the woman (Eve) distrusted God (the sin) in the Garden of Eden.
And throughout the generations, humanity has committed horrendous acts of violence against one another. We abuse and kill our own children, wives, and husbands.
We fulfill the lusts of the flesh with sexual pleasure and some to the perverse point of sexually abusing innocent children. We drown our spirit with alcohol and drugs. We evoke quarrels amongst one another and many other atrocities.
Humanity will continuously rage war and murder one another until the Lord’s return. No matter what humanity tries to do to fix the situation, we can’t fix a situation that is not in our control to fix.
The lack of trust in the Lord keeps you bound to the world of darkness and power of Satan. In the darkness, humanity suffers unnecessary adversities in life.
What Is the Answer?
Humanity has and always will look within for the answers to solve our problems.
The sad fact is, humanity has already been given the answer that will release themselves from the darkness and powers of Satan.
However, humanity continuously rejects the answer and lacks the trust needed to place their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
He is the “ONLY” answer.
The Lord is “THE ONLY WAY” to an abundant life.
The Lord is Calling.
The Lord is inviting you to follow Him.
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Matthew 16: 24-26 KJV
The question is…
Will you place your trust in him?
If you do, He will give you victory over your sufferings and an abundance of life forever.
If you don’t, you will be bound to the darkness and powers of Satan.
In the darkness, you will continue to suffer unnecessary pain and anguish in life. And the abundant life will always be out of reach. Trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ is the only way to overcome adversity so you can have an abundance of life forever.
